Revolution of the Constellations

Installation and use

Installation :

Install the shelf in the place you have chosen (you should not move it together with the clock) but carry it gently.

Put the clock on the shelf (it must be stable). Hang the two weights to their own hooks. Hang the long pendulum and push it gently.

Check the horizontality of the clock in order to obtain a regular tic-tac.

Winding of the weights :

Once a week, you have to take up the chain above the weight and pull down the other end of the chain. Then it's going to work for about one week.

Too fast or to slow :

If it works too fast, lengthen the pendulum (unscrew the nut under the weight of the pendulum),

and if it works too slow, screw the nut.

Finalization of the time :

You have to turn the disc with the chain : you must pull gently the right part downward, which makes the hand of the sun turn in the same time, as well as the one of the moon and the cosmos disc (constellations). The hand with the sun will stay in place near the number 12 ( noon).

Locating of the moon :

The hand with the moon can be manually moved on its axel, to put it in front of the hand with the sun, on the day of the new moon (see the calendar) or in opposition on the day of full moon.

The working is then automatically done by the mechanism.

Locating the ''cosmos '' disc :

If the clock is stopped in January and you want to set it to the date of July (for instance) you would have to turn the disc of hours 180 times to show, under the hand of the sun the names of the months from January to July, which would be very long. Another chain without end, which is behind the first chain (see '' finalization of the time '') permits to bring quickly the name and the date of the month chosen, under the position of the hand with the sun.

Maintenance :

Once a year put a drop of vaseline oil to each end of horizontal axels, on some teeth of the wheels and at every place where there is a fiction between the metallic pieces.
