"Lunarium" clock:

Position of the Moon around the Earth

Mechanical device showing the Moon around the Earth. It is equivalent to a globe, with an additionnal sphere for the Moon.

Presentation:

This clock is made from the mechanism of an ancient church tower (19th century), without bell, on which I installed an Earth represented by a 300mm-diameter globe. The continents are manually engraved in the tin layer, letting the underneath brass to appear.

The Earth rotates in 24h, as the clock works. The face shows the time in 12h format.

A steel arm holds the Earth axle and the gears for the Moon, which rotates around the Earth in 27.321 days.

This Lunarium works with a 22kg-weight. Its autonomy is 24 hours.
